SVEEP Activities conducted for enhancement of Voter turn out
1. Message to the voters through BLO and announcement through Mobile Van: Dissemination of information on the election process was done through:-
i) Booth Level Workers: They conducted regular meetings with the electors of each polling station through the BAG members in which various activities such as discussions on voter awareness, performing songs & plays conveying information on the Election & its process, etc, to sensitize the electors.
ii) Social Media: a)Various Whatsapp Groups were created wherein messages were sent about the special camps.
b) A Facebook Page “SVEEP, Biswanath Election District” was created to circulate information about the Special Camp organized for new Registration of voters on 23.02.2019 and 24.02.2019 and also to spread awareness about the Election and the Voting Process in general.

4. EVM/VVPAT Awareness Programme:
To create awareness among the people about the newly introduce VVPAT machine, we deployed six teams led by Block
Development Officers and Asst. Executive Engineers along with other officers not below the rank of Extension Officers as per the ECI Guidelines. Five teams headed by the five BDOs of Biswanath, Baghmora, Behali, Sakomatha & Sootea conducted awareness campaigns in the polling stations located at their concerned Development Blocks and the team of Asst. Executive Engineers organized awareness campaigns at the polling stations of Biswanath Municipality Area. There were 30,875 votes cast in the mock polls done at the campaigns.
5. Run For Vote: A Marathon event was organized on 17.03.2018 to create awareness among the people for the ensuing Loksabha Election, 2019 and to urge them to participate in the greatest festival of Democracy. A total of 983 participants from Biswanath
College, Biswanath College of Agriculture, Biswanath Arabic College; NCC Group of Biswanath College; Assam Police Battalion, Dept. of Forest, Sports Association of Biswanath District, etc. took part in the run. The event started at 6.30 am from the Clock Tower, Biswanath Chariali and continued via Biswanath Town, BG Road, College Road and ended at Kachari Maidan, located opposite to the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Biswanath. After the completion of the Run, the Deputy Commissioner, Biswanath, delivered a speech appealing to all participants to cast their votes in the upcoming Loksabha Election, 2019.
6. Street Play::- A street Play was enacted at eight different locations of greater Biswanath Election District under the aegis of
SVEEP, Biswanath Election District on 24.03.2015 and 25.03.2015. The play was performed by the members of Murchana, a socio-cultural Non-Government Organisation. They staged their play at Borgang Tea Estate, Behali Tea Estate, Ginjia Tea Estate, Mijika Tea Estate, Baghmari Bazar, Biswanath Chariali Weekly Bazar, Biswanath Chariali Bus Stand, and Sootea Weekly Bazar. Special target groups included the illiterate and women voters.
7. Aaideur Chora – 2019: There were almost 40 numbers of “Chandraprabha Baideu”s selected under Aaideu Chora-2019” in 40 Gaon Panchayats who spread awareness on Voting Rights amongst prospective voters within their respective GPs. They also popularized our Helpline No. 1950, Control Room No. 03715-222066 and spread information on the accessibility for PWD Electors, EVM/VVPAT, Electoral Registration, EPIC and its alternatives, Voter helpline App, cVigil App, PwD App. etc in their Nukkad Sabha that was held every Friday.
8. Women's’ Rally by Aaideur Chora:- A Voter Awareness Rally was organized on 27.03.2019 by the members of SHGs at five
Development Blocks of Biswanath District. The participants of the rally were only women and they traveled in the rural areas to sensitize the rural mass about their voting rights and other related information.
9. Voter Sankalp Somaroh 2019:- Voter Sankalp Somaroh was organized on 25th March 2019 at all Gram Panchayat Offices, where the participants took a pledge on ethical voting and they were informed about the various aspects of Digital Electoral Literacy. The Village Level Entrepreneurs from various Community Service Centres were also present and they demonstrated the various Apps provided by ECI.
10. Electoral Literacy Club:- To educate targeted Population Groups about voter registration, electoral registration, electoral process, the value of their vote, EVM/VVPAT familiarization, informed and ethical voting, etc., Electoral Literacy Clubs were set up in the various colleges of Biswanath Election District. The Nodal Officer conducted meetings in every 15 days to create awareness by involving the targeted population in various activities like Quiz Competition, Games, Mock Polling station, discussions, EVM/VVPAT Awareness program, etc.
11. Chunav Pathsala:- Chunav Pathsalas were set up in all the polling stations with the BAG Members. They educated people on the voting process and other facilities provide by ECI in their meeting. Special emphasis was given on the PwD Voters and Woman Voters.
12. ASHA – A meeting was organized among the ASHA worker of Biswanath Civil Hospital on 20.03.2019 by the Nodal Officer, SVEEP, who urged them to motivate the electors especially the women to vote. They were also asked to distribute the “GOHARI”s in every household of their respective locality.
13. IHelp:- In the 81 Common Service Centres(CSCs) of Biswanath Election District set up under the IHelp initiative. The Village Level Entrepreneur (VLE) of CSCs conducted awareness drives to promote Digital Electoral Literacy among the voters.
14. Special campaign for PwD Voter: Special Campaign for PwD voters was organized in each Development Block. BLOs and Chandraprabha Baideus were detailed for preparing the list of PwD voters and accordingly, through the EVM/VVPAT Machine and were also they visited door to door for its preparation and campaign. The voters were given adequate training on how to vote informed about the facilities that will be provided to them by the ECI.
15. Exhibition Centre: Apart from all these, 47 (forty-seven) Exhibition Centres were opened at all the GP Offices, Development Blocks, Circle Offices of greater Biswanath Election District. The Dev. Blocks are Behali, Baghmora, Biswanath, Sakomatha, and Sootea. People could contact them during office hours on each working day. A special EVM/VVPAT Machine awareness campaign was conducted once in every week in these centers. Special teams were detailed to create awareness among the voters about the voting process.
16. Sankalpa Patra:- It is a “Pledge Letter” which was sent through the students to give to their parents and convince them to pledge to vote in the LOKSABHA ELECTION 2019. As such, an interaction program titled “Sankalpa Patra” was conducted with the students of various Schools & Colleges of Biswanath Election District on 29.03.2019 at different times of the day. It was conducted specially for the involvement of students in Voting.
17. An Appeal Letter & Voters Guide to the Voters: The District Election Officer sent Appeal letters to each household of
Biswanath Election District to urge them to vote on 11.04.2019 along with the Voter Guide. The Voter Guide contains the information about the process of voting, how people should cast their vote and the required documents needed to be carried at the time of going for the casting of votes etc.
18. Advertisement: Banners were installed in all prime locations of greater Biswanath town, Gaon Panchayat Offices (32 nos GP) and in the five Development blocks. Apart from the banners, notices and appeal letters to voters
were displayed in public and private vehicles to create awareness among the voters. Stickers were labeled in the ATMs, Banks and other Commercial organizations in greater Biswanath Town. Signage posters for deaf voters were also displayed in all the polling stations.
